I booked a double room in advance because the hotel was almost fully booked. When we arrived, we went to the reception to check in and fill in the application form. The guest signed the form and paid a small deposit before receiving the keys. Our room was on the second floor, so we didn’t need to take the lift. The twin room was quiet, but the single room next door was very noisy. Breakfast is included in the price, and they also offer half board or full board. We ordered dinner through room service and left a tip for the waiter. Something was wrong with the shower, so we called housekeeping right away. The front desk said the room with a view of the sea was available, but it was quite expensive. I prefer B&B hotels — they’re usually cheap or at a reasonable price. Don’t forget to check your bill before you pay the bill at check-out. They charged us extra for late check-out, but the complimentary breakfast was delicious! Can I exchange dollars for euros at the hotel? We got to the hotel by taxi at 10 p.m. and were happy our reservation was still valid. Would you like a wake-up call at 7 a.m.? — Yes, please!

A Night to Remember — or Forget?

Staying in a hotel can be wonderful — or a total disaster!

When Maria arrived at her hotel in Paris, she was tired but excited. She had booked a double room in advance and even paid a deposit. But at the reception, the clerk said: “I’m sorry, we’re fully booked!” Luckily, they found her a twin room on the second floor — and it had a view of the Eiffel Tower!

She filled in the application form, signed it, and got her keys. Breakfast was included, and the room service was excellent. But at 2 a.m., she heard loud music — her room was too noisy! She called housekeeping, and they moved her to a quiet corner.

At check-out, she checked her bill carefully. Everything was correct, so she paid and left a tip for the kind staff. “It wasn’t perfect,” she said, “but the complimentary croissants made up for it!”

Moral of the story? Always book in advance, check your room, and never be afraid to ask for help at the front desk!
