The World in Colour and Shape

Look around you—everything has a shape and a colour. Your coffee cup is probably cylindrical, your phone rectangular, and the sun in the sky a perfect circle. Even abstract ideas take form: we talk about a circle of friends, a V-shaped recovery in economics, or a sphere of influence.

Colours add emotion to these shapes. A ginger cat curled on a brown sofa brings warmth. A star-shaped cake in pink and golden sprinkles feels joyful. Meanwhile, a triangular building with dark blue glass might look futuristic and bold.

Nature loves curves and spheres—the Earth is a sphere, raindrops are nearly round, and rivers draw curves through valleys. But humans often prefer straight lines: square gardens, flat surfaces, and parallel planes in architecture.

Whether it’s a cone-shaped hat at a party or a diamond-shaped box holding a gift, the combination of colour and shape helps us understand, remember, and enjoy the world—one light blue sky and rectangular window at a time.
